Structural Department Purpose
To proactively manage material use through collaborative problem solving and idea-sharing of engineered systems in order to meet our client’s needs.

Collaboration is the cornerstone of DC’s Structural Team. For many projects, the structural design establishes the foundation for other design work. Our team members are very aware of this, and listen carefully to understand project goals, and also assess and communicate the project’s challenges, opportunities and risks. This approach helps to refine design expectations, and sets a project off on the right foot. We then put our skills and expertise to work, utilizing industry leading tools and technology to enhance our collaboration efforts.

Commitment to our client’s success means our collaborative efforts continue well beyond a solid initial design. Our understanding of various project types and familiarity with the agendas of different stakeholders helps us navigate throughout the lifecycle of the project. Whether it’s a design build project where we are working directly for a contractor, or a bid build project where we part of a design team are answering directly to the owner, we have the expertise to effectively address the various challenges that will inevitably arise. We then strive to deliver a set of construction drawings that are code compliant, accurate, and communicate clearly for contractors use in accurate bidding and sound construction. Finally, we collaborate with the construction team to work through challenges and unforeseen issues.
